White Spot -treatment

White Spot treatment (enamel spot treatment) is a painless and permanent method for removing superficial discolorations on the teeth. The treatment is based on an infiltration technique. The enamel spot is treated with hydrochloric acid, after which it is dried and filled with a special treatment agent. The procedure restores the natural color of the tooth surface and creates an even shade.

Teeth whitening is recommended before the White Spot treatment to achieve the best possible result. The treatment is available at all KotiHammas clinics. By booking a consultation, we can assess your need for White Spot treatment at KotiHammas.

Benefits of White Spot treatment

  • The results are permanent and usually do not require retreatment.
  • The treatment is painless and does not require drilling or anesthesia.
  • Usually, one visit is sufficient (45–60 minutes).
  • Effectively removes enamel spots that cannot be removed by whitening alone.
  • Suitable for children as well.

White Spot treatment procedure

A dental hygienist or dentist will assess the cause of the enamel spots, which may include, for example, marks left by orthodontic treatment or developmental enamel defects. During the procedure, the gums are protected, after which the tooth surface is treated with hydrochloric acid, dried with ethanol, and treated with infiltration resin. The procedure typically takes about 45–60 minutes, so one visit is usually enough. The treatment is painless, so anesthesia or drilling is not required.
