Oral and maxillofacial surgery refers to the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases and injuries of the bite organ and associated tissues. At KotiHammas, you can find oral and maxillofacial surgery services at our offices in Helsinki, Vantaa, Järvenpää and Turku.
Procedures are usually performed under local anesthesia and recovery times from surgical procedures are short. Painkillers are taken care of individually, as are possible antibiotic treatments. If desired, all procedures can be performed in sedation, i.e. premedication or anesthesia.
Our surgeons will be happy to provide more information about the procedure. Find our host oral surgeons for staff information.
A dental implant is a permanent and safe solution to replace a missing tooth. An implant is usually an artificial root made of titanium that can replace one or more missing teeth. Various solid prosthetic solutions such as crowns or bridges can be built on top of the implants. Poorly fitting loose prostheses can also be made to stay in place with implants.
The dental implant is surgically inserted into the jawbone and acts like the tooth’s own root. The implant requires an average of about three months to heal before the actual prosthetic part, i.e. the visible tooth, can be attached to the implant.
Before the actual implantation, a planning visit is required, as well as an X-ray covering the entire dentition, which can be taken quickly at KotiHammas' offices. Sometimes a lot of your the patient's own jaw bone is lost, and a bone graft is needed before the implant is placed to ensure the stability of the implant.
You can view the prices of our implants in our price list and make an appointment for an implant treatment consultation at our nearest reception. During an evaluation visit we will work together to plan the most suitable solution for you and give you a more detailed cost estimate of the tratment. Implant treatment can also be paid for with funding and installments.
