Mobile dentistry for dental care at home

You don’t need to go to the dentist, dental hygienist, or specialist dental technician to receive dental care. Instead, we can send the professionals to you. The care team consists of a dentist, a dental nurse, an oral hygienist and/or a specialist dental technician, depending on the client's needs.

Our modern mobile care equipment enables the same high-quality basic dental care at home as at a clinic. The equipment includes a treatment chair, treatment unit, X-ray machine and normal treatment equipment. If necessary, we can treat the patient even in their own bed or chair. Our service entitles you to Kela compensation.

On the map you can see some of the places where we perform dental care with our mobile care unit.

Why dental care at the patient’s place?

In our experience, the most challenging part for older people in dental care is accessing the service itself. Nearly a quarter of older seniors use a cane, crutches or a walker daily. Indeed, in nursing homes it has already been found that it is more sensible and cost-effective to take care of the oral health of the elderly on site rather than to have nursing staff to take them to a dental clinic.

There are currently 1.1 million people over the age of 65 in Finland and the amount is growing. As more and more elderly people have their own teeth left, the need for oral disease treatment will multiply in the future.

Typical users of our mobile services are:

  • people with reduced mobility or functional ability
  • elderly people
  • clients of care facilities
  • disabled services' clients
  • school children and
  • individuals seeking home care

The treatment process

  • Doctor’s appointment
  • The care team arrives on site, assembles the treatment chair, prepares the treatment unit and treatment instruments. All that is needed is a power outlet, no pre-preparations are required.
  • Discussion with the patient and/or relative about the treatment  needs
  • After the treatment procedures, the care team logs the treatment information on the computer and prints an invoice. Immediate card payment is possible.
  • Arranging a follow-up appointment

Benefits of the service:

  • Effortless - the dentist comes to the patient and not the other way around. This allows treatment for bedridden patients
  • Saves time - the patient saves time and relatives’ time is not spent arranging transportation and escorts, no need to interrupt their own workday
  • Saves costs - no taxi or escort costs, competitive prices for treatments
  • Stress-free - the patient receives treatment in a familiar environment

On the video, a dentist and a dental nurse perform a dental check-up at a service home.

Dental care can also be performed in schools and workplaces

It saves time and money when people do not have to travel separately to the dentist and are therefore away from school or work. The average time spent visiting a dentist is about 1-2 hours (30-60 minutes for travel + 30-60 minutes for treatment).

Dental care performed at the client’s location saves 50% of the time spent at the dentist. Regular dental check-ups also prevent illness and sick leave.
