Osstem surgical equipment
In addition to implants, Osstem develops and manufactures equipment for surgery. The CAS-KIT sinus lift system, developed by Osstem, is widely used in Finland. The system is designed to raise the base of the buccal cavity. The base of the buccal cavity often has to be raised during implantation of the posterior region of the upper jaw to provide sufficient support for the implant. With the Osstem CAS-kit, the buccal cavity is approached with a special drill instead of hammering with osteotomes, as before. With the CAS-kit technology, the buccal membrane is removed hydraulically (with liquid pressure) and thanks to the new technology, there is no need to make another opening to add ossification material, which would increase the patient's after-pain and bruising. Sometimes the bone also needs to be grown elsewhere in the jawbone if there is not enough bone for implantation.
